Traffic Offenses

At Rucker & Rucker, we represent clients who have been charged with traffic offenses, including:
•speeding
•reckless driving
•driving on a suspended or revoked license
We analyze your driving record, past history and the facts surrounding your speeding ticket, reckless driving charge, and/or driving on suspended license or revoked license case. We search to find the most promising approach to resolving your speeding ticket, reckless driving charge and/or suspended license or revoked license charge.
Speeding
A speeding ticket is not the same as a reckless driving charge. The charge of speeding is a non-jailable offense. Honestly, the cost of hiring a lawyer to represent you on your speeding ticket can exceed the potential maximum fine you could receive if you were found guilty of the speeding ticket. For that reason, in many circumstances, you will not want to pay for the assistance of an attorney to represent you with your speeding ticket. However, we are happy to talk to you about your speeding ticket. Give us a call or contact us if you have questions or have concerns about your speeding ticket.
Reckless Driving
For most of you reading this, do NOT be alarmed with what we are about to tell you: Reckless Driving is a jailable offense and is a Class I Misdemeanor which carries a maximum punishment of up to 12 months in jail and/or a $2,500 fine.
We premised the foregoing because, for the majority of Reckless Driving charges, a jail sentence is NOT a realistic possibility. However, for those who have a horrendous driving record, those who race by a school bus loading or unloading children, and, most commonly, those travelling above 90 mph, a jail sentence is a real possibility if you are found guilty of reckless driving. If this type of reckless driving situation applies to you, contact us and we can discuss your reckless driving case and analyze your best defenses and potential outcomes of the reckless driving charge.
Driving on Suspended License
Any combination of traffic violations adding up to 18 points in 12 months, or 24 points in 24 months, can lead to a suspended or revoked license. A suspended license or revoked license can also result from continuing child support defaults, failing to pay criminal or traffic fines and court fees, or convictions for specific criminal offenses such as DWI or Possession of Marijuana.
As we have said previously, at Rucker & Rucker we have extensive experience throughout Northern Virginia and, in particular, in Arlington County and the City of Falls Church, representing clients who have charges pending, including traffic offenses related to speeding tickets, reckless driving charges and driving on a suspended license and revoked license. If you would like to discuss your speeding ticket, reckless driving charge, or driving on suspended or revoked license charge, contact us so that we can analyze your best defenses.
